all of that previously learned knowledge to I am a qualified Registered Medical Herbalist, living on the Sligo/Roscommon border in Ireland. My interest in herbal medicine began over 20 years ago with preparatory courses in healing with herbs, following which, I treated my children and wider family, and loved sharing the herbal knowledge I had discovered. My children used to enjoy helping me to forage, and I helped them learn about the natural world around them.
I then formalised and expanded my herbal knowledge, and trained in Traditional Western Herbal Medicine for over 7 years with the IRCH, training school.
This training involved examinations in anatomy and physiology, naturopathic theory, in-depth learning of the herbs themselves, herbal medical practice, supervised practice, clinical assessments, case studies and the submission of a 15,000 word research thesis.
I am so proud to be a herbalist, linking traditional healing arts with scientific understanding, and helping people to appreciate the fantastic medicines nature provides, and ways to significantly feel better and live a more contented life.
I am a full member of the International Register of Consultant Herbalists, and adhere to their strict codes of conduct and practice that ensures the highest ethical approach to herbal medical practice. I also undertake postgraduate training to expand my herbal knowledge, and to ensure my practice is continually updated.
I am also a tutor for the IRCH - I wrote and teach the Herbal Medicine (module 4) for final year students. This module brings together all the learning on anatomy and physiology, naturopathy, and herbs. I add to that some pathology, and then how to apply all that previously gained knowledge to help people on their path to better health.
The Herbal Medicine Clinic is an approved training clinic.

I previously had a long career in mental health and qualified as a Psychiatric Nurse in 1987. In my final NHS years, I was a Senior Charge Nurse, working as a Community Psychiatric Nurse, which I loved.
Since then I earned a First Class Honours degree in Philosphy and Psychology, from The Open University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Reading University.
I had a private counselling and psychotherapy practice for a number of years, eventually going on to set up and manage a Home Counselling Service for a charity in the Cotswolds, UK, while also carrying a personal case load.
I really understand what it is to be unwell, especially if you are suffering a chronic illness. There can be so many losses, isolation, crushed dreams and ambitions, changes in relationships, the way you see yourself and how you fit into the world.
There is always hope, though - sometimes we need help and guidance to keep moving on our path back to improved health and a new lease of life.
If you feel you would like to work with me to improve your health, please get in touch. If you would like more information about how I can help your particular circumstances, I offer a free, no obligation, 10 minute chat during one of my consultation days.
